How to name the layers in a laminated fabric brief

Luxury Winter Jackets & Fashion Coats Double-Sided Lurex Fleece Fabric 100% Polyester - Haida Outdoor Jacket Fabric

Name the face, the membrane or bonding layer, and the backer as three separate lines, then state the jacket end use. The word composite does not tell a mill which cloth is outside, which layer bonds, or what sits inside. Haida can review a laminated construction only after those three names are in the brief.

Jacket programs often arrive with a finish word, such as waterproof or stretch, and no stack. Finish words belong on the performance page or the waterproof article. This note is only the stack. Write it before the sample is cut so the swatch has the same layers you will sew.

What layers should a laminated fabric brief name?

Use one line each. Face: the cloth that faces weather or the outside of the garment. Membrane or bond: the film or adhesive layer you expect between cloths. Backer: the cloth on the body side, including whether it is a liner or a bare back. Add the end use in a fourth line, such as a windbreaker shell or a softshell panel.

Layer What to write What not to hide inside the word
Face Outside cloth and hand Do not call the whole stack by the face name
Membrane or bond Film or bond, if you know it Do not invent a bond-strength number
Backer Inside cloth or liner Do not assume a fleece back unless you name it

If you do not know the membrane chemistry, write "membrane to be proposed" and keep the face and backer specific. An honest gap is more useful than a guessed film. Bond strength, hydrostatic value, and wash durability are confirmed on the sampled stack. They are not filled in here.

How should a jacket laminate differ from a general composite note?

A jacket laminate has an outside and a body side. Say which side is worn outward. A general composite note that only says "bonded" can be read as an upholstery face or a panel cloth. Add the garment part: shell, sleeve, or a panel that must stretch.

Use the laminated composite page for this brief. If the program also needs waterproof-breathable jacket language, link the discussion to waterproof breathable jacket fabric and keep the layer names in this request. Do not turn the layer list into a waterproof rating.

When the swatch arrives, peel the edge only if the supplier has said the edge may be opened. Check that the face and backer match the two cloths you named. If a fleece appears and you did not ask for it, the brief was read as a softshell. Correct the backer line and ask for another cut.

Are Haida fabrics fire-retardant or tested to a named flammability standard?

This layer note does not answer that test. A membrane is not a flammability file. If the garment needs a named flammability standard, put that standard and the product scope on their own line. Do not treat the laminate stack as the answer.

Send the three layer lines and the end use by Request With WhatsApp. Keep bond strength and waterproof numbers off the first message unless you are quoting a target you already hold.
