How to brief a brushed fabric sample
State the end use, whether the brushed face touches skin, and what the base cloth has to do. The word soft is not a brief. Haida reviews brushed requests by hand, warmth, pile direction, base construction, and the job of the cloth. Those are the lines to write before a sample is cut.

Brushing raises fibers on a surface. It can make an upholstery face feel warmer, or it can make a lining feel less slick. The same finish changes when the cloth under it changes. A sofa face and a jacket lining should not share one unlabeled swatch.
What should a brushed-fabric sample brief include?
Write five lines. Name the application: sofa, cushion, lining, blanket, or another home-textile use. Say whether the brushed side is the side a person touches. Say whether warmth or a smoother back is the point. Name the base you expect, such as an upholstery cloth or a lighter lining cloth, without inventing a weight. Ask for the brush direction to be visible on the swatch.
| Brief line | Why it changes the sample |
|---|---|
| End use | Upholstery and lining are not the same cloth |
| Skin contact | The raised face may face the body or stay hidden |
| Warmth or smoothness | Stops the mill from guessing the hand |
| Base job | The cloth under the brush still has to fit the product |
| Visible direction | Lets you check nap before a bulk color |
Leave GSM, usable width, and abrasion as items to confirm on the quality you select. This article does not publish those numbers. If you already know a target weight or width, put it in the request as your target, and expect the sampled cloth to be checked against it.
How does an upholstery brush differ from a lining brush?
An upholstery brush is judged as the face of a seat or cushion. Look at nap direction in daylight, at whether the hand stays even after you rub it, and at whether the base still feels like an upholstery cloth. A lining brush is judged from the inside of a garment or a covered panel. It should not be specified with the same seat-face language.
Send two requests if the program needs both. Mark them face and lining. Do not ask one swatch to stand for both jobs. The brushed fabric page is the commercial route for this comparison. Velvet, chenille, and corduroy pages stay on their own constructions. Do not rename this brief as a pile-fabric article.
When the swatch arrives, check the raised side against the line you wrote. If the nap is attractive but the base is wrong for the seat, the brief failed, not the brush. Rewrite the base job and ask for another cut.
Are Haida fabrics fire-retardant or tested to a named flammability standard?
This briefing article does not answer that test. A brushed handfeel is not a flammability result. If the program needs a named flammability standard, ask for that standard and the product scope in a separate line. Do not read it into the brush notes.
Send the five lines through Request Quote and Samples or Request With WhatsApp. Include the end use in the first sentence so the sample is cut for that use.
